  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: - Plastic bag used to cover the diaper change pad (A staff removed the plastic bag) - Little Tikes slide without sufficient clearance around the equipment - The door knob at the entrance of the facility is broken - Dishes being used by children are not cleaned and sanitized using the 3 sink method The following was observed in the outdoor play space: - Dog feces in the designated playground - Grass and plants are overgrown and not maintained - Broken railings and panel accessible to the children - Garden hose accessible to the children - Approximately 10ft shelf with large items not secured

  Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

  Observation. Insufficient food and water to respond and recover from an emergency.

  Observation. Daily absences are not recorded. This is noted as a repeat contravention.

  Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed, out of the 3 reviewed: - Immunization status was not obtained for one employee. This is noted as a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. A staff who works alone with the children for a short period of time during the day does not hold a First Aid and CPR certificate as per Schedule C.

  Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

  The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

  Observation. Three individuals who are oridinarily present do not have a current and valid criminal record check. One individual has a police check issued from another province.

  Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): LO noticed children's absence were not recorded every day.

LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: - Baby monitor's lose cord was accessible for the children within the naproom ( corrected onsite) - Chipped paint on various areas of the wall throughout the facility - Diaper changing pad and indoor foam play equipment started to rip/tear; this does not allow for proper cleaning/sanitization

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Cabinet under the sink in the bathroom contained cleaning products. The cabinet was not secured and accessible to the children. CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION. - Diaper cream was left on the counter in the kitchen area, this was accessible to the children. CORRECTED DURING THE INSPECTION. - Clean- up bleach spray and diaper cream was stored in the mirror cabinet in the bathroom which is accessible to the children. - There is an over growth of grass growing in the outdoor play area. The Licensee contact reported this will be fixed later this evening. - Door to the outdoor play area came off the hinge. The Licensee contact reported this will be fixed later this evening.

  Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the attendance record had some days where a child was not signed out. Additionally, on some days there was no indication whether the children were absent or present.

  Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 6 files reviewed, 1 had an expired criminal record check from August 2022. The Manager said an application has been filled and submitted to the criminal record review program.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection of the facility it was noted that the manager's name was not displayed.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the manager's name is displayed.

  A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

  Observation. During review of the outdoor play equipment, it was found that the resilient surfacing around the climbing structure has eroded and is in need of refilling. The landscape fabric is starting to show underneath and poses a tripping hazard to the children.

  Corrective action. Ensure that there is sufficient resilient surfacing around the climbing structure. Ensure the landscape fabric is repaired or replaced.

  Observation. There is an indoor climbing sliding structure that is located in the main play room. The stair are accessible and the floor fall zone does not have any support in the event of a fall
