A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. There is no written documentation of the monthly fire drills.

Corrective action. The Licensee said they practice the fire drills, will post a form to remind herself to record the drills once practiced

The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. Care plan not developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent.

Corrective action. The Licensee will discuss with the family and develop a care plan

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The shelving unit on top of another shelf has not been secured to the wall

Corrective action. The Licensee said she will remove the shelving unit

A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.

Observation. there is a child sleeping on the couch licensee stated he doesn't usually sleep but a mat is not available in the facility licensee stated a mat can be provided

Corrective action. please ensure an appropriate sleep mat is available in the event this situation reoccur

Observation. the shelving unit is not secured

Corrective action. please ensure the unit is secured

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. emergency preparedness supplies not available licensee stated they were reviewing supplies and threw a lot out

Corrective action. the licensee has stated they will renew the emergency supplies

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): care card number not available for children

Corrective action. fixed at time of inspection

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, it was noted that the play structure did not have enough clearance around the slide.

Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. Upon review of child files, 3 children did not have a photograph or digital image. The Manager explained that she will take photos of the children.

Corrective action. Please ensure child records are complete

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available. The Manager explained that she was unaware that the criminal record check was not complete.

Corrective action. Please ensure a criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is available.

Observation. Licensing observed the gate located near the outdoor play area and leading to the driveway was open. The Licensee said there is a procedure in place where a scan of the yard is completed prior to children playing outside. The plan described was not demonstrated during this inspection

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection of the facility, it was found that 2 rooms located in the basement belonging to the homeowner are not locked and contain items and substances that may be hazardous to a child.

Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous.

A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.

Observation. During inspection of the facility, it was found that there is not a copy of the fire drill system displayed in the facility

Corrective action. Ensure a copy of the fire drill system is displayed in a prominent place in the facility
