Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed the fire extinguishers to be overdue for servicing
Corrective action. The Manager said the fire extinguishers are scheduled to be serviced today.

- STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Upon review of staff files, 1 staff did not have a certificate which was verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. The Manager explained that she was unaware certificates need to be verified each time they are renewed.
Corrective action. Please ensure that certificates issued under Division 2 are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed a child in an unlicensed area of the facility where hazards were present such as fitness equipment.
Corrective action. Please esnsure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed one child requiring emergency medication was expired. The Manager explained she had requested for current medication from the family and will follow up again.
Corrective action. Please ensure medication is current and readily accessible to employees.
