  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The diaper mat was torn in multiple places.

  Corrective action. The Licensee said she will purchase a new diaper mat.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. The fire extinguisher requires servicing.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed the staff's file and there was no record of their character references. The Licensee said she had obtained them prior to employment but they have has since been misplaced.

  Corrective action. The staff member emailed the Licensee copies of the character references during the inspection.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Upon review of staff files, immunization status was not obtained for one employee. The Manager explained she forgot to obtain this information from the employee and will follow up for this information.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff files are complete

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,

  Observation. Upon review of manager's staff files, ECE License is not verified

  Corrective action. Please ensure Licensee verification is complete

  Observation. Upon review of fire drill records, the facility did not document records for May and June 2021.
