    A licensee must have one toilet and wash basin for every 10 children or fewer.

    Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: 1 toilet stall in one of the GCC (301) classroom is not used and accessible to the children. This stall is used as a storage.

    Corrective action. Ensure that both toilets are available and accessible to children in GCC (301) classroom.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: - Nap space: floor length curtains used in all nap spaces accessible to the children (posing potential entanglement and suffocation hazard), with limited continuos supervision during nap time. - Outdoor play area: geo dome climbers more than 3 ft in height are placed in 2 outdoor play areas used by children from GCC (301) under 36 months old. - Bathrooms: mops are hanged in each bathroom stalls, wet/dirty mop heads are accessible to the children.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -Two blind cords were not secured. This could cause a potential hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CTPSPW -A storage cupboard located in a nap room had the key in the lock. This could cause a potential hazard as this was at the children's level -Several stereo cords were not secured

    Corrective action. Please ensure to monitor the facility regularly to ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -The kitchen door was easy to open and a chemical was located under the sink. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CTPSPW -Plastic bags holding new diapers were located on the ground in the washroom. This could present a potential hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed a stool and easel and a table partially blocking an exit in the classroom. In addition Licensing observed the emergency exit in the kitchen was blocked by food warmers/coolers.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all exits and entrances remain clear to be prepared in case of an emergency evacuation.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: -One toilet was not accessible to the children in care. The stall door was closed. There were 16 children in care. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CTPSPW

    Corrective action. In discussion the staff stated the toilet was blocked and she wanted to prevent the children from using the toilet. Licensing recommended staff contact the Manager. The toilet was fixed.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The carpets in the rooms were observed. The carpets were stained and debris was observed on the carpets. This is a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-CF5QXZ and #CLAN-CTPSPW

    Corrective action. In discussion with the staff they stated the carpets are vacuumed each night and steam cleaned each month. Licensing recommends a more frequent cleaning schedule be put into place.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Medication for a child that was expired. -A care plan in place was not signed by the parents and a medical authorization form was not completed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to regularly check expiry dates of medication and ensure authorizations for medication are completed and signed.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -Blind cords were not secured in two rooms. Please correct this by July 13, 2023 -Several sleep cots were stacked on top of a cabinet. On top of the cots were several items. This could cause a potential hazard. During the inspection Licensing observed the following outside the facility: -Sharp edges were observed in the metal trim and fencing in the outdoor play area -A climber was observed close to a fixed climbing structure. This was corrected during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided to the children at all times.

    Observation. During the inspection the washrooms were observed. In one washroom stall a door to one of the toilets was locked and items were stored on and beside the toilet. In another washroom stall buckets and mops were stored and the stall door was closed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all of the toilets that the facility is licensed for are accessible to the children in care.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -An open fish tank with a chair propped next to it. This could cause a potential hazard. -A chair was propped up to the counter and bottles with bleach and water were within reach -The door to the kitchen was easy to open. Chemicals were observed under the sink -A staff bag was accessible. This was corrected during the inspection -Several cupboards had keys placed in them. One cupboard was accessible and contained staff bags. This was corrected during the inspection. -A bag with strings was observed under a sleep cot in the nap room. -Hand sanitizer and cream was within reach in a child's cubby.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

    Observation. Licensing observed that items in the washroom were stored on top of the diaper mat. As this mat is used for changing diapers there is some concern that potential bacteria on the diaper mat could contaminate other items stored on the mat.
