    Observation. The manager explained that the emergency drill was practiced in Jun/2026; however, there was no record of it.

    Corrective action. Emergency drills must be documented upon completion.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Two couches in the school-age program room have multiple rips on them. The couches are not in good repair and the ribs make it difficult to clean.

    Corrective action. The Manager will explore how she can replace or repair the coach to ensure it is in good repair.

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

    Observation. During the inspection furniture and equipment was observed partially blocking the emergency exits in both rooms.

    Corrective action. Please ensure furniture and equipment are not placed in front of or close to an emergency exit as this can block the exit in an emergency

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the indoor play area: -Two power bars were plugged into an outlet. Several outlets were missing outlet covers. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CM62BS, #CLAN-BHHPGV and #CLAN-CB2UZN -Several outlet covers were missing -A blind cord was not secured and was hanging at the children's level. This could cause a potential hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times to the children in care.

    Observation. The following was observed during the inspection: -A power bar with exposed outlets was plugged into the outlet. Exposed outlets is a repeat contravention from inspections #CLAN-CB2UZN and #CLAN-BHHPGV. -A TV on a rolling cart was not anchored. Please provide active supervision until this is completed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

    Observation. Rust was observed in the overflow drains in the washroom. These were also sharp. Two garbage cans in the washroom were showing signs of rust. This can poses a potential health hazard. In discussion with the Manager she stated she had cleaned the rust. The Licensing Officer and the Manager discussed other options for treating rust. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BR6TE5 and #CLAN-BHHPGV.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are harmful to their health and safety.

    Observation. The following was observed at the inspection: -One of the couches had sections that were covered in duct tape. In discussion with the Manager she stated that these were to repair holes in the fabric -The lock on the emergency supply cabinet was broken and one of the handles was falling off -Paint chips were observed throughout the classroom - Two holes in the wall

    Corrective action. Please ensure the furniture and the facility are in good repair.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed the attendance records. At 8:50 AM the attendance showed that 12 of the children had been signed out with a departure time of 9:00 AM. The children were still present in the room at 8:50 AM although they were recorded on the attendance records as departed. The importance of keeping accurate records was discussed with the Manager.

    Corrective action. Please ensure attendance records are accurate and completed after children's departure.
