  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed some wear on the walls in the main activity space as well as in the children's bathroom. The Licensee is advised to plan for a re-painting of the surfaces. Licensing observed the outside decking as having deteriorated whereas the boards under the non-slip surface appear to be giving way due to wood rot. The decking forms the approach to the main entrance to the Preschool facility.

  The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

  Observation. Licensing observed that various children were missing emergency contacts and immunization status on file.

  The medications are not being administered to the child in the amount and/or at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.  [CCLR Sec. 53(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed a life-threatening care plan with a nonprescribed medication for one child. The medication container does not have a labelled with the child’s name/dosage/time, or instruction from the physician.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed 3 staff certifications have not been validated by ECE Registry. ( Resource provided)

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. Emergency telephone numbers were posted. There was an Emergency Plan posted in the facility. Fire extinguisher tags indicated that it was due for inspection, on or before Nov 19, 2021.

  Character references have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(b)]; Criminal record checks have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing reviewed staff documentation and observed a CRC for one staff and character references for two staff had not been obtained.
