A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Two children without the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. Walk-in clinic information can be provided.
Corrective action. This information will be obtained and recorded in the children's files.

A licensee must do all of the following: (d) appoint a manager for the community care facility.
Observation. There is a new manager at the facility, but the process to appoint a new manager has not been completed with Licensing.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Plastic bags are accessible to children in washroom.
Corrective action. The manager will store the plastic bags in a manner that is inaccessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. One child with a parent listed as an emergency contact.
Corrective action. The manager will follow up with the family to obtain an emergency contact information that is neither parent and/or guardian.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Two care plans were not annually reviewed with the parents.
Corrective action. The manager will review the care plans with the parents and document the date of review.
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Validation on file for one staff is for the staff's previous certification.
Corrective action. The manager will obtain the validation for the staff's current certification.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. 1) Indoor climbing equipment is not on resilient surfacing. Licensing and the Manager discussed options for surfacing. 2) Outdoor climbing equipment exceeds 3 feet in height, as per DOLSOP Safe Play Space, equipment for infant and toddlers must not exceed 3 feet in height.
Corrective action. 1) The Manager will either remove the equipment or will place the structure on appropriate resilient surfacing. 2) As per the Manager, the outdoor structure will be removed by the evening of July 2nd.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. In discussion with the Manager and based on observation, emergency medication is not taken outside when the program goes out making the medication not readily accessible to employees. Licensing and the Manager discussed the importance of taking emergency medications wherever the child/children go.
Corrective action. During the inspection, the Manager communicated this with the staff and took the emergency medication outside that same afternoon. The Manager said that she will have a dedicated container for the emergency medication that will be taken outside to ensure that medication is readily accesible to staff throughout the program day.
