    Observation. There is a large trampoline in the backyard for children to use. A trampoline policy or written permission for families allowing children to use the trampoline is not in place. (This is a repeated contravention to inspection #WBET-D8ZNCH)

    Corrective action. Manager is to provide Licensing Officer a trampoline poicy for review and obtain written permission from families.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. A hot lunch program is provided by the facility. The manager describe how she prepares food for cooking. A cutting board used for meat preparation is not sanitized before other food products are prepared on it. This increases the risk of food cross contamination. The fridge temperature was 6.5c The fridge being too warm is repeat noncompliance.

    Corrective action. The manager will either use a dedicated cutting board for meat preparation or ensure the cutting board is sanitized after being used to prepared meat. She will also enure the fridge temperature is between 0-4c.

    Observation. There is a large trampoline in the backyard for the use of children. The facility does not have a trampoline supervision policy or written permission for families allowing children to use the trampoline.

    Corrective action. The manager will create a trampoline supervision policy which will include information including (but not limited to) what steps will be taken to ensure the safety of children using the trampoline, how this equipment will be checked and maintained, what ages of children can use the trampoline. She will also obtain written permission form families before children use the trampoline.

    Corrective action. The manager turned the temperature of the fridge down during this inspection and the second measurement was 4c.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Several areas of the facility walls and doors are in need of cleaning or repairing. The stove top,stove exhaust top and areas of the kitchen wall have a film of cooking grease on them and are in need of cleaning. Outdoor ride on toys are in need of cleaning.

    Corrective action. The manager stated the facility will be fully cleaned and painted during the winter break.

    A licensee must (a) ensure that each child has healthy food and drink according to the Canada's Food Guide. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The fridge temperature at the time of this inspection was 12c. To ensure safe storage of food please ensure that the fridge temperature is between 0-4c. CCFL recommends that the Licensee purchase a fridge thermometer.

    Corrective action. The temperature of the fridge was corrected during this inspection.

The manager will contact the Criminal Record Review Agency to check the status of her request and if needed will submit a new application.

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. LO observed and discussed with the manager on site today: Plastic booster seats used by all children during meal/ snack time were not securely installed. LO discussed about following the manufacturer's instructions and be aware of other safety precautions when using booster seats, including recommended age, weight and height limits.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that any equipment used by children are safely constructed, free from hazard and in good repair.

LO learned that it is facility's practice to notify parent verbally when child becomes ill or gets injured while in care. LO discussed about regularly documenting on the logbook for current records.
