• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

  Observation. [CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION] A plastic container with soft foam blocks was placed by the emergency exit that was closest to the nap room.

  Corrective action. Manager will remind the staff again to keep the emergency exit clear

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Records of Evacuation Drill were not available. Manager confirmed that the Evacuation Drill was practiced with the staff, not with the children.

  Corrective action. Manager will ensure to practice the earthquake drill with the children and keep a record

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The fridge temperature was 9c.

  Corrective action. To ensure safe food storage the manager will ensure the fridge temperature is between 0-4c.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ as a manager a person who, at the time that the person is managing the licensee's community care facility, is also managing another community care facility.

  Observation. The manager is currently managing more than one facility although the exemption to allow this expired on August 1, 2023.

  Corrective action. A manager can only manage one facility unless an approved exemption is in place. The manager said she will apply for a new exemption.

  Observation. Some maintenance required in outdoor play area, including : - wood rot and fence damages - rusty nails and screws ( Note: Manager temporarily covered this by relocating a piece of an outdoor equipment) - more wood chip required for ground surfacing

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
