• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Records of Evacuation Drill were not available. Manager confirmed that the Evacuation Drill was practiced with the staff, not with children.

  Corrective action. Manager will ensure to practice Evacuation Drill with the children and to keep a record.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Two care plans have not been reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all care plans are reviewed a minimum of once every 12 months.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ as a manager a person who, at the time that the person is managing the licensee's community care facility, is also managing another community care facility.

  Observation. The manager is currently managing more than one facility although the exemption allowing her to do this expired on August 1, 2023.

  Corrective action. A manager can only manage one facility unless an approved exemption is in place. The manager said they will apply for a new exemption.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Patches of vinyl were missing on top of the toy shelf, areas of drywall were exposed and there was a rip in the mesh on one baby gate. The manager informed CCFL that a new baby gate was on order although she would repair the current at until it arrived.

  Corrective action. Please make sure all areas of the facility are in good repair.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Weed killer solution and hedge clippers were stored on top of cubbies in the outside area. There is the potential that children could access these items.

  Corrective action. The items were removed during the inspection.

  11200 - CCLR s.17

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with the Licensee, re: maintenance for outdoor play area, including: -the whole fencing around the playground ( e.g. loose, broken and missing pieces) -wood rot repair -rusty nails, screws and hinges -need to add more wood chip ( for protective ground surfacing)

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
