A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: a. Garbage cans used for diaper disposal do not have a lid. b. Toys are stacked on top of a play kitchen in one of the play rooms. Falling hazard c. Toy kitchen is taller than 4 ft and not secure d. The outdoor wooden fence is broken and half falling in one section leaving an entrapment hazard.

Corrective action. Manager said: a. She will get garbage cans with a lid and put them in the bathroom b. She will remove the boxes of toys stacked on top of the play kitchen c. The play kitchen will be secured d. Manager will cover the gap to ensure children cannot access the gap- this will be completed by monday March 9, 2026.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed of which 1 was missing an enrolment date

Corrective action. Manager said she will review all files and follow up with families to ensure they are up to date and complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed of which the following was found: a. 2 were missing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner b. 2 were missing the name and phone number of an emergency contact

Corrective action. Manager said she will review all files and follow up with families to ensure they are up to date and complete

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed of which all 5 were missing a photograph or digital image of the child

Corrective action. Manager said she will review all files and follow up with families to ensure they are up to date and complete

A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

Observation. 5 children's files were reviewed of which 2 were missing medical consent

Corrective action. Manager said she will review all files and follow up with families to ensure they are up to date and complete

The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.

Corrective action. Manager said she will apply for a criminal record check as soon as possible
