A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During this inspection a child was observed using the washroom without staff supervision.
Corrective action. The manager stated that a staff person is always in the washroom with children and that she will ensure no children are unsupervised when using the washroom.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. On review of children's files one file did not have contact information for a doctor or medical clinic and one file did not have contact information for an emergency contact.
Corrective action. The manager will obtain the required information.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation. Two child with food allergies do not have a care plan and one care plan does not include the symptoms a child may have during an allergic reaction.
Corrective action. The manger will ensure complete care plans are available for all children who have food allergies.
19140 - CCLR s.57(2)(h)(i) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for two staff.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure immunization status is available for all staff.

Observation. Two staff files were reviwed. One staff has an RCMP criminal record check and one staff has a criminal record check that is not site specific or has been obtained through the sharing program.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure all staff have the required criminal record check.

Observation. Licensing observed that validation for an ECE certificate was not completed.

February 6, 2020Routine Inspection3 items noted
- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed cleaning products, hair spray stored under the sink in the washroom. A rodent bait box was also observed in the children's outdoor play area.
Corrective action. The Manager removed the items under the bathroom and she will look into placing a children's safety lock on the cupboard. At this time the outdoor play area is not being used by the children as they are using the grassy area in front of the building. When the outdoor play area is being used by the children ensure the bait box is inaccessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.
Observation. Licensing looked at 6 children's lunch boxes, at random, and noted that none of them had an ice pack.
Corrective action. High risk foods (ex: rice, pasta, meat, dairy products etc) must be kept cool or hot to prevent children from getting sick. This may be achieved by placing an ice pack in the lunch box or storing the foods in a thermos.
17020 - CCLR s.48(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. The Licensee has been working on the children's and staff files. During today's inspection not all records were available. Children's emergency cards were readily available.
Corrective action. Ensure records are stored in one place within the facility.
