    The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Care plan of a child requiring emergency medication was not annually reviewed with the parents and/or any person request by the parent. As per the manager, information related to the adminstration of the medication has not changed.

    Corrective action. The manager will review the care plan with the parents. If no information has changed, then the parents' signature and date of review will be obtained. If there are any changes, then a new care plan will be completed.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Plastic bags accessible to children posing a hazard. Upon notifying the Manager, the plastic bags were stored in a location that is no longer accessible to children.

    Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous objects or substances are not accessible to children.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Each child has their own wash cloth to dry their hands. Licensing expained to the staff that if they wish to continue using the wash cloths then it must be replaced after each use in order to reduce the spread and harbouring of bacteria. Alternatively, disposable paper towels can be used. Upon notifying the Manager, the wash cloths were immediately replaced with disposable paper towels.

    Corrective action. Please ensure wash cloths are replaced after each use or disposable paper towels are used.

    Observation. Licensing observed bottles of hand sanitizers and plastic bags that were stored in a way that was accessible to children. Both items pose as potential hazards to children.

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

    Observation. Through discussion with the Manager, a child requiring extra support does not have a current care plan in place at the facility. Manager said that she was not certain if this child required one.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a care plan is in place for this child that is created in collaboration with the family and/or health care professionals.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection licensing observed a purse located on the shelf in view of and within access to children.

    Corrective action. While the area in which the purse was located is designated for adults only the area is completely accessible by the children. As there is the potential for hazardous items contained within the purse items of this nature must be kept out of reach of children. This item was addressed during the inspection and moving forward the Manager will ensure all adult personal belongings are kept out of reach of children.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.

    Observation. In discussion with staff, manager and licensing it was determined there are 3 children in care who have medical needs whereby the family needs to provide to the facility written instructions on the administration of the medication. This information was not available.

    Corrective action. The facility must obtain written instructions specific for their child outlining the administration of the medication. This should also include a photograph of the child to enable staff to verify the identity of the child prior to administering the medication.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed inside the classroom: -a wooden transfer strip between the bathroom and the hallway was loose, splintering and showing signs of wear -in two areas, the drywall and the metal corner angle framing trim was exposed

    Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair
