  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cabinet under the sink was not locked and accessible to children. The cabinet contains a large bottle of bleach and laundry detergent.

    Corrective action. Staff locked the cabinet during the inspection and said they will ensure they will lock cabinet after use.

  • OR SUPERVISION

    A licensee must ensure that children are adequately supervised by qualified employees in sufficient numbers to meet the needs of each child.

    Observation. Upon arrival there was an ECE on site only. Manager (ECE/IT) arrived before end of inspection. It was noted by licensing that ECE staff was only staff on site from April 10th - 17th - as per the staff sign in.

    Corrective action. written plan to be provided to licensing on how facility will remain in compliance.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. 3 of 5 childrens files missing the name and telephone number of an emergency contact.

    Corrective action. Manager will review files with family and ensure they are correct and up to date.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, Licensing found the fence in disrepair and broken near the bottom, exposing sharp objects.

    Corrective action. The Manager explained that she is aware of this and will fix it during the weekend.

    Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing found that the original Licence was not displayed at the facility in a prominent place.

    Corrective action. The Manager explained that the original Licence in stored in her office.

    Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing found that all children with indicated allergies on their registration forms did not have a care plan including the course of action recommended by health care professionals.

    Corrective action. The Manager explained that she will create a care plan for each child with a noted allergy.
