    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed a lock was placed on a cupboard beneath the sink in the washroom. The lock was easily opened as it was not secured. Located in the cupboard was bleach and other chemicals for cleaning.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to secure the locks where chemicals are kept so hazardous substances are not accessible to the children in care

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed a loose cord hanging from the stereo. In addition, several bottles of hand sanitizer were located at the children's level.

    Corrective action. Please ensure cords are secured.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the record of fire drills. In discussion with staff, fire drills were completed for the months of November and December but these were not recorded.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to record fire drills after they are completed.

    Observation. Products with a drug identification number (DIN) were observed in the first aid kit. No permission for applying these medications was observed. This was discussed at a previous inspection. These were removed from the first aid kit.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to have written permission from a parent or guardian prior to administering any medication

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -The sink in the washroom is chipped. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BCDPQD -Paint chips in the cubby area. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BCDPQD -The cabinet doors under the sink are showing signs of wear. -The sandbox cover was rough and may cause a potential for splinters.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: - shaving cream was in a cupboard. This was at the children's level. A lock was noted on the cupboard but it was not used. This was corrected during the inspection. -staff personal bags were located on the floor and accessible to the children. Contents in the staff personal bags could present a potential hazard. -the paper towel dispenser in the children's washroom had rust on the corner. This could present a potential health hazard.
