  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Elcectiral cords are accessible to children in the nap room.

  Corrective action. The manger will ensure children do not have access to the cords.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The ceramic tiles surrounding the toilet in the children's bathroom are loose and uneven. There is a concern that the toilet may also start to shift. Porous subflooring material has been exposed between the tiles making the areas difficult to clean and sanitize.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure that repairs are made to the tiles and will monitor the toilet to make sure it remains stable.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the followings : - A gate, in the backyard/outdoor play space, which connects to the next door neighbour's back yard could not be closed properly. It is accessible to children. This poses a potential risk. - A wooden panel, in the backyard/outdoor play space(beside the gate), was disrepair. This poses a potential hazard.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will have it fixed immediately. In the meantime, increased supervision will be implemented near the broken gate.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Three staffs files were reviewed. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain immunization status from the staff.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Three staff files were reviewed. Two staffs' certificates were not validated through the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will validate staffs' certificates by using the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

  Observation. A minimum of three character references were not obtained for the Manager. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BYDRW7

  Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -A printer with a loose cord was located on the ground. This could present a potential strangulation hazard. -Blind cords were hanging at the children's level. This could present a potential strangulation hazard. -A TV was located on top of the fridge. This was not anchored to the wall or the fridge. This could present a potential falling hazard

  A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.

  Observation. During the inspection licensing observed that a food menu for the children was not posted. In discussion with the Manager she stated the facility is providing snack to the children. This was corrected during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure information is available to the parents on the food and drink that is provided to the children.

  A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the fire drill system was not posted.This was corrected during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the fire drill system is posted in a prominent place.

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. Two staff records of two were reviewed. The Manager was missing a criminal record check. In discussion with the Manager this information was provided to licensing at the time the facility was licensed. Licensing reminded the Manager that this information must remain on site.
