  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. CCFL reviewed 5 children's files. 1 lacked his medical practitioner's contact information & another lacked his medical clinic's phone #.

  Corrective action. The licensee explained she'll obtain these once children are back in care next week.

  Observation. 1 child's file with parent listed as emergency contact. Licensing and the Licensee discussed emergency contacts as being individuals that are not the parents and who are able to contact the parents when the Licensee cannot.

  Corrective action. Please ensure an individual who is not the parent is listed as the emergency contact.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed one of the tables was showing signs of wear and the particle board was showing. This can make the table difficult to disinfect and clean.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the equipment is in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. A shelf inside the facility was over 4 feet tall. The shelf was unsteady. This could present a potential falling hazard. Outside in the play area a shelf was next to the fence. The shelf could present a climbing hazard as a child could potentially climb the shelf and climb over the fence and leave the child care facility.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The washroom cupboards are showing signs of wear and have water damage. The Licensee temporarily fixed the cupboard with a temporary solution and is in search of a new vanity that will fit the space. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BG7P7N

  Corrective action. Please ensure the facility, fixtures and equipment are in good repair.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Licensing observed several sharp knives in the drying rack. This was located at the children's level. The knives were pointing downwards. This was corrected immediately.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are harmful to their health and safety.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.

  Observation. During the inspection the first aid kit contents were reviewed. The first aid kit that is used for walks and in the outdoor play area was not fully stocked. Items such as an ice pack, a triangular bandage and gause were not present.

  Corrective action. Please add more items to the first aid kit to ensure you are able to provide adequate first aid to the children in care.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. During the inspection licensing observed several wear marks and puncture marks in the plastic tile flooring. This could harbour bacteria.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the flooring is clean and in good repair

  A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

  Observation. Licensing observed a playground structure placed against the fence. A rung on the playground structure was next to the fence. A child could potentially climb the rung on the climber and climb over the high fence surrounding the outdoor play area. This could cause a potential falling hazard.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's play equipment is moved away from the fence to prevent a child from climbing over the fence

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. Licensing observed that there was pink insulation blocking off the fireplace. This was accessible to the children in care. The Licensee and I discussed the potential concern to the health and safety of the children in care.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the children do not have access to any objects that are hazardous to their health and safety.
