    A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A fire drill was not recorded for April 2025. Upon notifying the manager, it was communicated that a fire drill was practiced. The manager recorded the date of this fire drill during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly.

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -A loose cord to an air purifier was uncoiled. This may present a potential hazard. This was corrected during the inspection -Staff bags were located at the children's level. This may present a potential hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects of substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -a cupboard under the art room sink is constructed of laminate. The laminate is peeling. -benches in the cubby area had paint chips

    Observation. In reviewing the staff qualifications list an employees name was not listed. In discussion with the employee she stated she started her employment at the facility in November 2021 and the staff checklist was updated in September 2021. Two items required for the staff records were observed on site.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the staff checklist is updated on a regular basis to reflect changes to the staffing.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -four small holes in the wall -the caulking in the washroom sink was cracked and the sink is starting to lift away from the wall. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-B9DR8Y and #CLAN-BMKSQ9. In discussion with the Manager she stated the work was completed two years in a row but it cracked again. A long term solution was recommended to address the concern.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair.

    Observation. The following was observed in the facility: - a cupboard containing a spray bottle with chemicals was accessible and at the children's level. This was corrected during the inspection. -rust was observed on the paper towel dispensers in the washroom. This could present a potential health hazard.

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. During the inspection the water temperature was measured in the sink in the classroom. The children sometimes use the sink to wash their hands. The hot water was measured at 65.8 degrees Celsius. The serious burn risk was discussed. This was corrected during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius to comply with the legislation.

In reviewing the previous months attendance records, the arrival and departure times for individual children were not written. One arrow for all of the children for arrival and departure was written.

    Observation. During the inspection the follwing was observed inside the facility: -glass cleaner was under the sink. Please correct by March 6, 2020 -rust was noted on the heaters in the washroom. This could cause a potential health hazard. Recommendations for fixing the rust was discussed.
