    Observation. Children's snack and lunches are kept in fridge, however, no thermometer in fridge to measure temperature.

    Corrective action. Manager said they will get a thermometer and keep it in the fridge at all times

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Upon inspecting the facility, the following items were observed: - A bottle of bleach and water and a bottle of floor cleaning solutions were placed on a shelf at children’s level in the main play area. (Corrected during the inspection) - An opened-bag of ice-melt salt was stored in the cubby area by the entrance, which was accessible to children. (Corrected during the inspection)

    Corrective action. Staff corrected the above-mentioned items during the inspection, and she said she will all hazardous items will be kept out of children’s reach.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. Upon review three staffs’ files, one staff’s immunization status was not obtained.

    Corrective action. The Manager confirmed the immunization status of the staff was not obtained and she will obtain it.

    Observation. Licensing observed a criminal record check was not obtained for a person over the age of 12 ordinarily present.

    Corrective action. The Manager confirmed a criminal record check was not obtained for one person who is considered ordinarily present. The Manager said she will obtain it and ensure the person has no unsupervised access to children.

    Observation. There are 2 of 3 staff early childhood education certificates posted.

    Observation. The facility provides morning and afternoon snack however there is no notification to families of what was served.

    Observation. The Licensee has obtained references for staff however there is no evidence that the references have been verified.

    Corrective action. Licensing discussed with the Manager implementing a system that demonstrates they have verified staff's references.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and none of the files contained evidence the early childhood educator's certificates have been verified.

    Corrective action. Licensing informed the Manager she will need to go on-line to the ECE Registry website to verify each staff's certificates and to place a copy of the verification on the staff's file. This must be done whenever the certificate has been renewed or additional certificates have been added.
