A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: a. Bedding and beds in the nap room are touching b. Diaper Cream is located in a space accessible to children c. Fridge holds children's lunches and needs a thermometer for temp. control

Corrective action. Licensee stated the following: a. She will stand the beds separately so they don't touch b. She removed the diaper cream and located it on a higher shelf, inaccessible to children c. She will purchase a thermometer for the fridge.

If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

Observation. Licensing noted that a child requries life saving medication. There is no care plan for this chlid.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will create a care plan

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. In discussion with the Licensee, she stated that they have not done any fire drills or recorded any

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will start doing monthly drills and record them

A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the facilities policies and procedures and noted that Active Play and Screen Time policies were missing

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will create the policies and share them with familis.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 6 children's files of which 1 was missing the name and phone number of an emergency contact.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will work with the parents to ensure the files are complete and up to date

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Licensing reviewed 6 chlidren's files of which 1 was missing the immunization status

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will connect with the families to ensure files are complete and up to date

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

Observation. Licensing reviewed staff files of which 1 was missing copies of certification

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing was not able to review staff's CRC as it was not on site.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will obtain the CRC from the staff

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she will work with the staff to enusre her files is complete and up to date
