    Observation. Licensing observed that the manager name was not posted anywhere. Manager said that a business card was recently removed and will ensure her name is posted.

    Corrective action. Ensure families can see posted manager information

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. On review of staff files, Licensing observed two files without current criminal record checks. Discussed further and reviewed evidence that they have been applied for but not yet received. Expired clearances are on file.

    Corrective action. Please provide a health and safety plan to Licensing while following up to locate the clearances

    Observation. In discussion with some staff, Licensinf found that the emergency drill had not been practiced by all staff.Discussed further with manager to ensure all staff are orientated on the emergency drill annually.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff practice the evacuation drill annually. Provide a compliance plan to Licensing.

    Observation. A staff working on day one of inspection did not have an employee file on site, therefore no criminal record check available when solely supervising children. Manager said that the staff was a substitute filling in

    Observation. Criminal Record Check not obtained for one staff through the CRRA. Licensing observed a RCMP clearance available and manager said there was difficulty accessing the portal for clearances.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a health and safety is in place while working through the CRRP process by submitting a plan to Licensing.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed two shelving units in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) program that were not anchored to a wall. These were tall units, holding a heater and stereo on top are are a tipping hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a safe space for children in attendance at all times.

    Observation. On review of facility policies, Licensing observed that neither the staff handbook or the parent handbook contained policies for Active Play and Screen Time. This was a repeat contravention from the previous routine inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure appropriate policies are in place and provided to staff and families.

    Observation. Of the four staff files reviewed, Licensing observed that three staff did not have indication of charachter references being obtained prior to employment.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete prior to employment.

    Observation. On review of four staff files, Licensing observed that one staff did not have a criminal record check clearance through the Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA). This is a requirement of regulation. There was a clearance obtained through the RCMP on file. One other staff file did not have a site specific clearance.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff criminal record checks are obtained through the Criminal Record Review Branch in Victoria.

    Observation. On review of emergency recording information, Licensing observed that the record for October was not complete for fire drills, although was practiced along with the school. There was no emergency drill record for review.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the monthly fire drill and annual emergency drill are recorded when practiced.
