• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Fire drill records did not have evidence of a drill having been completed in September 2022.

  Corrective action. Ensure a monthly fire drill is completed, and documented.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

  Observation. Three children's files were reviewed and in one of the three files there was no evidence of a start date.

  Corrective action. Ensure all children's files have the start date (enrolment) date present.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Two staff files were reviewed and in one of the two files there was no evidence of a Criminal Record Check having been completed by the corporation.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff have a valid Criminal record check completed prior to employing that staff.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.

  Observation. Two staff files were reviewed and in one of the two files there was certification present which does not meet the appropriate minimum requirement. Staff present today informed licensing that they are present on an ongoing, scheduled weekly basis.

  Corrective action. Ensure all staff employed meet the minimum certification requirements to meet the required staffing ratios.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Two staff files were reviewed and in one of the two files there was no evidence of valid first aid certification.

  Corrective action. Ensure there is a minimum of one staff present at all times who has a valid first aid course, as per the legislative requirements.
