Observation. Hazardous cleaning products and medications located in the upstairs bathroom were found to be accessible to children in care. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that children not have access to anything that may be hazardous to their health or safety. All hazardous products must be stored in a manner that prevents access by children in care lo later than October 17, 2025.

Observation. Child registration records, including written consents, are now located in a single location within the facility. Daily attendance was reviewed and was up to date at time of inspection. Records were reviewed and some information is still required - date of enrollment, date of birth, gender, and written authorization for release to anyone other than the parent.

Observation. Monthly fire inspections have not been completed as required by section 56(c) of the Child Care Licensing Regulation. A minimum of one drill a month must be completed to ensure preparedness in the event of a fire.

Observation. Child registration records could not be located at time of inspection. Unable to review to confirm all required information has been collected. Written consents that are required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation - emergency consent and release of child - could not be located at time of inspection. Daily attendance reviewed and found to be incomplete at time of inspection. Last date of recorded attendance was February 24, 2025. Attendance must be recorded and up to date at all times while children are in care. Facility records were not located in a single location at the facility during inspection. LO Vermeulen and licensee discussed the importance of having all required documents up to date and accessible at all times.

Observation. The upstairs of the home has not been used on a daily basis as initially discussed during application process. It is required by the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice - Family Child Care, that children have reasonable access to a home like environment that includes at minimum, a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. A fire exit located upstairs in the home was observed to be blocked with bags of recycling at time of inspection. All emergency exits must be kept clear in case of fire or any other emergency. At time of inspection the main refrigerator was not being monitored to ensure temperature is adequate. Optimal fridge temperature is 0-4 degrees Celsius. A method of tracking temperature must be implemented to ensure adequate food safety practices.
