    Observation. Fridge temperature is 8 degrees Celsius. The optimal temperature range for safe food storage is 0 - 4 degrees Celsius. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that food be stored in a safe manner in order to prevent illness to children in care. Licensing must receive written notification no later than May 25, 2026 that this contravention has been corrected.

    Observation. One child registration record does not contain a care card number. The Child Care Licensing Regulation Section 57 requires that the licensee keep a record of care card numbers for all children enrolled in order to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Licensing must receive written notification no later than May 25, 2026 that this contravention has been corrected.

    Observation. Daily attendance records were reviewed and found to be incomplete at time of inspection. Some dates showed no record of children being present, while they were in fact in care. This record is required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation and must be kept current, showing times of arrival and departure for all children in care. It must be up to date at all times in order to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Licensing Officer and Licensee discussed strategies to ensure compliance. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED DURING FEBRUARY 2023 INSPECTION. The licensee identified two instances of facility closure that should have been reported as service delivery problems. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that all reportable incidents be reported to Licensing within 24 hours of occurrence. These incidents are to be reported following receipt of this report. A response is required by April 15, 2025 outlining systems that will be put in place to ensure ongoing compliance.

    Observation. Children did not have access to a bedroom at time of inspection. This is a requirement of the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice - Family Child Care. Care is to be provided in a home like environment that includes at minimum, a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The Licensee stated that this room is in the process of being cleared out so that children in care will have regular access during child care hours. A response is required by April 15, 2025 outlining systems that will be put in place to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. Fire drill records could not be located at time of inspection. Licensing Officer was unable to confirm monthly drills have been practiced. Section 22 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that monthly drills be conducted to ensure staff are prepared in the event of an emergency. A record of annual emergency plan practice could not be located at time of inspection. Licensing Officer was unable to confirm an annual review was conducted since previous inspection. Section 22 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that the licensee practice implementing the emergency preparedness plan once each year to ensure preparedness in the event of an emergency. A response is required by April 15, 2025 outlining systems that will be put in place to ensure records are in place and accessible at all times.
