Health & safety record

No critical violations on record. 12 non-critical findings noted since 2023.

June 10, 2026Routine Inspection4 non-critical
  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. Child registrations records are incomplete. One record requires a care card number and the other requires an emergency contact other than a parent. The Child Care Licensing Regulation states that the licensee must keep current records, including this information in order to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Licensing must receive written confirmation that this contravention has been corrected no later than June 17, 2026.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

Observation. There is no record indicating that the emergency plan was practiced at least once each year. This is required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation to ensure preparedness in the event of an emergency. A record indicating dates of the review serves as evidence. Licensing must receive written confirmation that this contravention has been corrected no later than June 17, 2026.

  • CR1.1 - Has the facility been tested for radon gas?Non-critical

Observation. The licensee previously tested for radon gas but did not follow timeframe guidelines accordingly and will have to retest this winter. Licensing requires all child care facilities to test for radon gas in order to ensure the health and safety of children in care. Licensing must receive written confirmation that the long term radon testing kit has been deployed during the winter of 2026.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

Observation. The licensee's criminal record check expired in March 2026. It is required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation that no one over the age of 12 be ordinarily present without a valid criminal record check. The purpose is to ensure the health and safety of all children in care. Licensing must receive written confirmation that this contravention has been corrected no later than June 17, 2026.

  • CR1.2 - Is the facility's radon gas level in compliance with the 200 Bq/m³ limit?Non-critical

Observation. All child care facilities are required to test for radon gas to ensure a healthy and safe environment. The licensee has sent off a radon gas detector to a lab and is awaiting results. Licensing must receive the results of the test upon receipt.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. The fire extinguisher located in the kitchen was observed to be overdue for inspection by 3 months. As part of emergency preparedness, fire extinguishers must be inspected annually to ensure proper working order. Licensing must receive written confirmation that fire extinguishers have received their annual inspection by May 13, 2025.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. Child registration records were reviewed. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that every child have a non-parental emergency contact. This is to be prepared in the event that the parents cannot be reached in an emergency situation. Some records did not include this. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that a child's gender be recorded on the registration record. This allows for respectful communication between the caregiver and child in care. Licensing must receive written confirmation that all registration records have been reviewed and contain both gender and non-parental emergency contacts by May 13, 2025.
