  Observation. There is no record indicating each employee reviewed the emergency plan at least once in 2025. Section 56(c) of the Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that a record be kept as evidence that all staff have reviewed the details of the emergency plan at least once each year. The purpose is to ensure staff are prepared in the event of an emergency. Licensing must receive written notification that a record is on site and available to record the date of the annual emergency plan review no later than April 16, 2026.

  Observation. Radon results have not yet been received for this facility.

  Observation. Child registration records were reviewed at random. Written authorization for the release of child to someone other than a parent is currently not included with registration forms located on site.

  Observation. A record indicating each employee has reviewed the emergency plan at least once each year could not be located during the inspection. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING THE PREVIOUS INSPECTION CONDUCTED JANUARY 10, 2024.

  Observation. Child registration records located on site were reviewed at random. Various required information is not currently included on the forms available on site. Each record must include an emergency contact other than the parent, gender, date of birth, and date of enrolment. Consent to release a child to someone other than the parent must also be present in writing. A signed emergency consent must also be kept on site. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING THE PREVIOUS INSPECTION CONDUCTED JANUARY 10, 2024. Minor incident reports were reviewed. One report had been sent to the main office and was not available on site for review during inspection. Staff records located on site were reviewed. Evidence of reference checks were not available for two staff. Copies from the main office must be kept on site with all other documents.

The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that all staff practice implementing the fire drill system at least once each month and a record of this is kept. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING THREE PREVIOUS INSPECTIONS. A record of annual emergency plan review/practice has not been created. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING FOUR PREVIOUS INSPECTIONS.

  Observation. Employee records are incomplete. All required documents must be kept for each employee and available for viewing onsite prior to their employment. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING PREVIOUS THREE INSPECTIONS.

  Observation. Child registration records were reviewed at random. Three emergency contacts did not include someone other than the child's parents. CCLR 57(2)(d) requires a name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner AND emergency contact. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING PREVIOUS INSPECTION. One care card number was required for a child who has been attending since June 2023. One child in attendance did not have any records on site at time of inspection. There is currently no written consent from parents to call a medical practitioner or ambulance. As discussed, this consent must be in writing and be accessible to view with other registration records on site. THIS CONTRAVENTION WAS IDENTIFIED DURING PREVIOUS INSPECTION.

  Observation. One child in care wandered off site, away from group during outdoor play. Supervision practices were inadequate to ensure the safety of all children in attendance.

LO Vermeulen recommended to licensee that this record be part of the fire drill record so that it is not missed.

  Observation. LO Vermeulen advised new licensee contact of the requirement to test for radon gas. Resources will be provided along with this report.

  Observation. LO Vermeulen reviewed current and past attendance records at random. Departure time has not been consistently recorded for all children in care. Please ensure a system is in place to record both arrival and departure times daily for all children in attendance. A photo is currently not available for all children in care. LO Vermeulen advised staff of the ability to keep a digital image if a hard copy is not provided by the parent.
