C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical
Observation. - During the inspection, the fire drill system was not displayed as required. - During the inspection, the Licensing Officer (LO) did not observe any evidence indicating that the Licensee had practiced implementing the fire drill system monthly for 2025. *The Licensee is required to submit a response to Licensing regarding their plan for correction by April 22, 2025.* The Licensing Officer and the Licensee discussed the required policies and procedures currently in place. The Licensee confirmed that no revisions to these polices had occurred since receiving their licence.
C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical
Observation. - Some of the documents for the Licensee's assistant/substitute staff person were not in place as required. These documents included, the staff person's resume/work experience, immunization status, and a valid criminal record check from the Criminal Records Review Program in Victoria, BC. *The Licensee is required to submit a response to Licensing regarding their plan for correction by April 22, 2025.* The LO informed the Licensee that the required documents for an assistant/substitute staff person must be obtained and readily available for review before the person can work alone with the children.
C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. - The LO reviewed a sample of the children's records during the inspection. A child's record was missing evidence of the child's immunization status (i.e. up to date or not). *The Licensee is required to submit a response to Licensing regarding their plan for correction by April 22, 2025.* Other records, such as the daily attendance records, play space inspection log, and the minor incident log were reviewed by the LO and they appeared to meet the requirements.
C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. - The LO observed a soiled item on the floor in the bathroom used by the children. This soiled item was required to be disposed of in a covered container. *Resolved by the Licensee during the inspection. - The LO observed hazardous products stored under the kitchen sink and that were accessible to the children. *Resolved by the Licensee during the inspection.
