Observation. Upon discussion with the Licensee, it was determined that the daily routine does not include a program of coordinated and comprehensive activities such as arts, crafts and sensory experiences due to lack of time as well as the cleanliness purposes. Ensure children are provided with program that responds to the needs and interests of the children and is age as well as development appropriate for children. Licensing requires an updated detailed care program description to be submitted reflecting daily schedule and detailed list of activities to comply with Section 44 and Schedule E of the Child Care Licensing Regulation.

Observation. It was observed that the children were not instructed to wash hands before eating food. This may pose a potential risk of spreading germs and illnesses. Ensure a program is developed to instruct children in practicing the rules of health and hygiene including hand washing.

Observation. The playground gate is in poor repair and could potentially cause injury to children. Ensure equipment is in good repair and free from hazard.

Observation. Licensing observed individual towels hanging in the bathroom close to each other. These same towels are used by children throughout the day and not disposed off after each use. Ensure hand drying towels are single use and do not come in contact with each other between uses.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. Licensing observed the following: • There are hazardous items found accessible to children in the washroom that indicate "Keep out of children's reach". Ensure children do not have access to any hazardous items. • Food surfaces are not appropriately cleaned by using soapy water to wash before sanitizing. Ensure food surfaces are appropriately cleaned and sanitized. • A tall shelf in children's play space which is not moved from one area to another, is not affixed to the wall. This poses a risk to children if it were to tip over. Ensure facility equipment is safe and free from hazards. • There are two play-ground structures installed adjacent to each other with no clearance around and between the equipment. Ensure six feet clearance around equipment is maintained as per Safe Play Space standards.

Observation. Upon reviewing children's records, one was found to be missing information regarding the name and telephone number of child's medical practitioner. Ensure children's records are complete.

Observation. C7.1L - Regulation 17 - Upon review of the physical space there was an open bag and container of ice melt salt accessible to the children. Licensing notes the packaging identifies to "keep out of reach of children". There is a new puppy on the premise that integrates with the program and there was soiled puppy pee pads accessible to the children. Please identify the systems implemented to ensure there are no hazards accessible to the children at all times.

Observation. C10.2D - Regulation 39(1) - The current routine is to have some of the younger children nap in the basement in cribs while the non nappers are upstairs with the licensee conducting play activities. The licensee is relying on a baby monitor as supervision of the napping children. This practice is unsafe and the licensee must remain on the same level as all the children at all times to be able to manage an emergency and exit the facility if necessary.

C4.1H - Regulation 57(2)(c) - The Licensee's own child is currently not included in the daily attendance log. C4.1J - Regulation 57(2)(i) - The Licensee's own child does not have a photo or emergency information that can be used during an emergency.
