The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. Licensing observed a broken lock on a gate, preventing it to close properly and stay closed. The gate connects the toddler cubby area and activity space. There is a full door that is kept closed in between the toddler cubby and infant cubby space. Manager informs that a work order has been sent in for the repair.

Observation. Licensing observed that one toilet paper holder was broken, and no toilet paper is readily available for children who are potty learning.

Observation. Licensing observed a part of the drywall to be damaged in the nap room containing cots. The damaged area is at children's height, and can potentially be a hazard if pieces were ingested.

Observation. Licensing observed a portion of the playground fence dividing between the 3-5 and toddler playground to have a space beneath that falls between 3.5 inches and 9 inches, posing an entrapment hazard.

Upon agreeing to administer medications, a competent employee is available at all times to administer and document administration of the medications. [CCLR Sec. 53(3)]
Observation. *A current 'administration of medication' form was observed to be in use in the infant room. The form was complete with parental consent, dates, dosage and signed documentation of when staff administered the medication however the name and RX# of the medication were not included on the form which poses the possibility of misadministration of medication.

Observation. *A child was observed to be sitting alone in a booster seat with milk in a sippy cup at the small table in the infant room kitchen while staff appeared busy in other areas of the room. CCFL observed an educator come back to the child after about 5 minutes.

Observation. *CCFL observed a spray bottle containing bleach and water at the diapering station ion the toddler room, however there was not a spray bottle of soap and water observed in this area (required for 2-step cleaning). *Liquid soap was observed in the children's washroom in the toddler room, but there were no paper towels available. *In the infant room, 2 spray bottles containing cleaning solutions were observed to be unlabelled, making it difficult to identify the bottle contents. This can be hazardous because certain cleaners should never come into contact with one another.
