    Observation. Licensing observed several children to be missing medical practitioner information, and one child to be missing an emergency contact that is not the parent. Facility has transitioned into an electronic system for children's records, which can sometimes be missing information that is available in the main files at the office. Licensing recommends transferring all required information from the main files at the head office, to the files accessed by Educators at the facility in order to provide consistency.

    Observation. Licensing observed sand to be spilling out onto the walkway and wooden bridge area next to the sandbox. The walkway and bridge has become slippery from sand build up. Licensing recommends a higher barrier around the edge on the side to keep the sand inside the sandbox, or regular thorough cleaning to prevent the running path/bridge from becoming slippery.

    Observation. *A child with a care plan for asthma did not have the indicated medication on site at the time of CCFL's visit. The manager indicated the inhaler had expired and the family was in the process of obtaining a new one.

    Observation. *CCFL observed steps up to a small loft that is positioned directly at the height of a window that opens fully at a child's waist level. This item first found out of compliance on February 22, 2022. *A loose and unsecured cord from a table lamp was observed next to the kitchen area. *A carpet in the main activity area is curling up and fraying on one corner creating a tripping hazard.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. *The big wooden climber has already been closed off on one side due to a hazard, however during today's visit an additional hazard was observed in the form of a hole in one of the platforms. It appears a tree used to come through the hole but this has been broken/worn away leaving only a foot sized gap which poses a risk of entrapment.

    Observation. *CCFL observed steps up to a small loft that is positioned directly at the height of a window that opens fully. *A wooden triangle climber in the nap room has 2 ropes attached that were observed to be loose and within a child's reach. The ropes are secured at either end creating a loop that could pose an entanglement hazard. *A string of lights in the illness isolation area was observed to be loose and unsecured creating a possible entanglement hazard. *CCFL did not observe a fridge thermometer. The fridge must be kept at a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius or less.

    Observation. *A leaf blower was observed to be accessible to children on the kitchen window ledge. *A tub of laundry powder was observed to be accessible to children on the bathroom floor just under the cabinet.

    Observation. *A hose in the outdoor play yard was observed to be loose and accessible creating a possible entanglement hazard. *A broken metal beach umbrella was in use by the fence in the outdoor play yard. *A portion of the wooden climber is broken creating an entrapment hazard in the floor of one of the decks. *The broken portion of the climber has been blocked off from use with a piece of tape and paper sign. This is not an adequate barrier.
