  Parents or emergency contacts are immediately notified if a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or becomes ill or injured. [CCLR Sec. 55(1)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed two entries in the logbook that is utilized for documenting minor injuries that informed that parents were notified at the end of the day of their children's minor injuries that had occurred in the morning.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO observed that the facility walls look worn, soiled and stained. They are no longer easy to clean and require attention.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. LO observed a care plan posted for a child with a life threatening allergy was last updated in September 2020. Discussion took place with manager with regards to updating care plans on an annual basis so that the information is current. In addition, LO recommended that a copy of the child's current care plan be stored with the epi-pen in the back pack.

• STAFFING / Additional criminal record checksNon-critical

  All persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present are of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for each person. [CCLR Sec 20]

  Observation. LO observed that a criminal record check for a practicum student and a Behaviour Interventionist has not been obtained. Manager advised LO that a copy of the student's CRC is kept at head office. Manager shared that the BI was hired externally and not by the organization. LO advised Manager that a CRC is required for all persons over the age of 12 that are ordinarily present on the premises while children are present.
