Observation. During today's inspection, Licensing Officer observed an Educator bring four children from Program #2 for play in Program #1's small room. This occurred after they had played for some time in Program #1's outside play space. While having children play in Program #1's outside play space was accepted with scheduling during the facility licence amendment process for Program #2, having children play inside Program #1's space(s) was not. Licensing Officer was informed that the reason why these four children were in Program #1's inside space was because Educators believed that there wasn't enough room in Program #2. Program #2: Licensing Officer observed five children at play this morning in Program #2's classroom. Six children were at play in Program #2's outside play space. Based on the assessment of the Licensing Officer, there was a sufficient amount of space in Program #2 to include the four children who were present in Program #1's small room. While the four children were present in Program #1, playing in the small room, their raincoats and boots were piled up on a nearby chair. Although these children were present in Program #1, the maximum capacity was not exceeded for this program.

Observation. In the outdoor space, LO observed that the bottom of the play structure slide was cracked and broken. Discussion took place with the manager who advised LO that the slide was damaged a couple of months ago. The manager shared that over a weekend there was a group of teens who had jumped the fence and were observed repeatedly jumping on the slide resulting in the crack. The group of teens were observed by community neighbors who reported the incident to the facility. The Manager shared that a police report was filed and a new slide has been ordered. The facility is awaiting a new slide to be installed however there have been delays with shipping. LO advised Manager that broken slide is a reportable incident as there was a change to the original play structure.
