  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Tape was found wrapped around the handles of the gate between the IT and 3-5 playgrounds. - Weeds are overgrown along the garden pathway surrounding the sandbox. - Visible mold growth accompanied by a musty odor was observed on the shelving within the outdoor storage shed. While this area is restricted from children's direct access, however the staff uses this space to store outdoor toys, sensory table, and emergency supplies etc. Storing these items in a contaminated environment introduces a potential health risk to the children who interact with them.

  Observation. One care plan observed to be incomplete - Missing medication expiry date.

  Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following in the small room with 4 cribs: *1 stained crib sheet. *3 cribs with sand and debris found on top of the crib sheets. Discussed with the manager that the children's crib sheets must be washed and changed immediately once they become visually soiled. The manager informed that these crib sheets are changed regularly. However given the dimmed lighting of the nap room, the educators may have not seen the sand and debris. Licensing reminded the manager to check the condition of the children's cribs and beddings prior to each nap time. The manager further ensured that these crib sheets will be changed prior to the children's nap time.

  Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher required a service as of 2023/05/02.
