  • RECORDS AND REPORTING / Records For Each ChildNon-critical

A record for each child containing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(c)]

Observation. LO reviewed children's information and emergency cards for GCC (under 36 months) and GCC (30 months to SA) at the same time. There were some difficulties opening the online system used to store children's information (and paper emergency cards do not contain all required information) as two staff were unable to assist LO with the online system. The manager was able to open the program and share all files. But, if you had evacuated and were unable to have access to the tablet (was unable to take it with during evacuation or there were network issues), how would staff have access to children's information. It was also observed today that attendance for this group did not match the number of children in care. LO observed this program upon arrival, went to the GCC (30 month to SA) program and returned to this program prior to leaving the facility. Both visits, the attendance did not match the number of children in care. Sept. 15 - There are emergency cards available within the room, but these have very limited information. LO was able to review the centre tablet that has children's files. What is the plan if the tablet was not working or available? How would children's files be available in emergent cases. The information in the children's files were complete, with the exception of two children who have emergency contacts who are the same as parent.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. There are areas throughout the indoor space that are showing wear and tear - such as bathroom / walls / baseboards. It is up to staff to ensure the environment is not only easy to clean, but also in good repair.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING / Records For Each ChildNon-critical

A record for each child containing any notification of a parent, emergency contact or medical health officer made under CCLR section 55 [notification of illness or injury] is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(g)]
