  When care is provided to any child younger than 36 months of age a separate sleeping area located away from any activity area is provided. [CCLR Sec. 15(3)]

  Observation. Licensing observed two cribs,three sleeping mats, a piano, and some toys in the sleeping area. The licensee stated that while eight children were present, some would be sleeping in the activity area. A conversation occurred with the licensee explaining that for children under 36 months of age, the sleeping area must be separate and located away from the activity area.

  Observation. The Licensee stated that the program attends StrongStart on a daily basis, seldom using the on-site outdoor playground. A conversation with the Licensee revealed the on-site outdoor area provides children with growth opportunities. Some indoor activities can occur outdoors, such as circle time, picnic days, music and dance, and mealtimes, etc. The outdoor playground is not regularly used and requires significant maintenance attention: -Holes and openings larger than 23cm were observed along the fence and around the shed. -Multiple uneven surface areas could potentially create tripping hazards. -The sandbox requires fresh sand. -All wooden features need to be sanded down to avoid any splinters and sharp edges (around the fence and the sandbox house). -The dollhouse and other play materials need to be washed down.
