Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A large plastic rice bag was located in the outdoor play area and could become a risk if accessed by children. - The securing lock on the kitchen door had broken off and had not yet been replaced. - The child safety gate blocking lower floor stairs, and the adult washroom door, were open during the inspection. Although children were not in these areas at the time of the inspection, they use these areas during transitions to the outdoor play area. The gate in the outdoor play area leading to the front of the house was also open.

A record for each child containing any medication administered to the child, including the amount and the time at which the medication was administered is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(f)]

Observation. During a review of children's records, a Request for Administration of Medication form was available in a child's file. The request form was completed and signed by the parent, but the Record of Medication Administration had not been completed.
