  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. While inspecting the outside play space, Licensing observed a significant amount of wood rot as well as nail heads raised on the decking which surrounds a tire tree planter. Wood rot was also observed on the stumps used to surround the sand play area. A gap was observed between two fencing systems which join together in a perpendicular manner. The gap has been temporarily filled with various boards and tied in place with rope. The bathroom that is designated for Educators is out of service. Because of this, Educators must leave the licensed child care space and access bathrooms that are located in the main area of the neighbourhood house.

  The certificates, or copies of certificates, of early childhood educators and assistants are prominently displayed in the facility. [CCLR 11(4)]

  Observation. LO noted one staff included in ratio did not had the certificate posted.

• MEDICATION / MedicationNon-critical

  Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

  Observation. Licensing officer noted the medication for 2 children present in care was expired. Manager was informed that children can not be in care without an up-to-date medication and was requested to contact the parents immediately. One medication was brought by the parent at the time of the inspection.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing officer noted a rotted wood log that was part of the retaining wall on the outdoor play space ,also accessible to children.
