    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. In the children's washroom, Licensing Officer observed the following: -multiple rust stain rings around the sink area where children wash their hands -soiled mirror which appears to be in need of a clean -toilet bowl is visibly stained, discolored and in need of a deep clean -paper towel dispenser is dirty and appears to be collecting dust on the surface where the children pull the paper towel from

    Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]

    Observation. LO observed that a child who coughed while having lunch, was told by a staff "can you cover..oh my god... you just coughed on my face" LO observed that at times children were lifted, moved, and physically redirected without warning, verbal prompts or opportunity to move independently: - A child who moved during circle was picked up and moved back to their spot by a staff - When a child who was eating independently stopped eating a staff placed their hand over the child's hand to scoop up food and place it in their mouth - During the diapering routine children appeared to be rushed to the washroom and placed the mat for changing with staff proceeding to rush to change diapers. Children who appeared capable of pulling down their own pants or lying on the mat independently were not given the opportunity to do so.

    Observation. LO noted that although the back deck was not initially cleared for children's use when the facility was licensed, it has since been modified for this purpose with the addition of artificial turf, plastic fencing, and toys. The manager was unaware that the deck was not a licensed area and confirmed that it had been used by children on at least one occasion since she started working at the facility.

    Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

    Observation. LO observed an EpiPen for a child which expired in December 2024.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. LO observed that the grass in the outdoor play space has depleted leaving large patches of packed soil throughout the outdoor play space and around climbing equipment. Large and small rocks were observed scattered throughout the outdoor play space, some with jagged edges.
