    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -Door knob on the nap room door is unsecured -Bi-fold doors in the small play room spaces are unsecured due to broken safety latches -In the children's washroom, cleaning equipment such as a vacuum, mop, broom and dustpan are stored on top of and around the toilet which poses a risk of harm if the equipment were to fall on a child in care. In addition, the baseboard wall heater is missing the cover face plate exposing the metal tubes to children. -In the front outdoor play space, an adult bike is leaning up against the house near the sandbox posing a risk of harm if it were to fall on a child in care

    Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed one crib in which the mattress did not appear to be the appropriate size. The mattress is smaller than the crib size leaving an empty space on one end. The empty space is approximately 6 inches from the edge of the crib wall. Staff stated that a pillow is used to fill the empty space during rest time. Discussion took place with regards to the health and safety of children while they are resting. Licensing has concerns with the current mattress size and recommends the appropriate sized mattress be provided.

    Observation. In the front outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed animal hair in the sand box. In addition the sand appears to be hard and compact. Discussion took place with regards to monitoring the sand box for potential hazards on a daily basis.

    Observation. Originally found out of compliance on May 8 2025 Licensing observed that the manager continues to staff the program that does not comply with schedule E at the time of the inspection. Prior to the manager arriving, the children were cared for by an Infant/Toddler Educator and a Responsible Adult.

    Observation. Licensing observed the change table has been reconstructed with unfinished wood, which is porous and can cause cross contamination and the spread of germs and illness. Licensing also observed a piece of food that was stuck to the mat, which indicated the mat was not cleaned and sanitized after the previous diaper change.

    Observation. Licensing observed renovations occurred on the back deck that had not been approved by licensing. Licensing observed with the renovation of the back deck, and indication that space is used more regularly when capacity allows, the space under the window is a concern to licensing that a child may become injured when accessing this space due to the corner and the low height of the space.

Licensing observed there continues to be a lack of outside activities, toys and equipment provided for the children enrolled in the program, which are designed for the age and development of the children in care. Licensing observes the activities provided for the children inside are more for babies and young toddlers, e.g. cause and effect toys, but limited or no toys for older toddlers.

Licensing observed there were toys in the sand box area, but there was nothing for dramatic play for socialization, communication in the playhouse area. As discussed with the licensee the outdoor space is to meet the developmental needs of the children as per schedule G as it does in the indoor space.
