The licensee does not keep a current care plan for each child requiring extra support. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)]

Observation. During today’s visit, Licensing Officer observed that a care plan for a child with a life threatening allergy was not on file. This issue of non-compliance remains outstanding.

Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

Observation. Licensing Officer observed medication for a child with a life threatening allergy did not have a Request for Administration of Medication form on file.

A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

Observation. In the outdoor play space, Licensing Officer observed that the space beneath the patio staircase was accessible to children, posing a potential risk of harm.

Observation. Licensing Officer observed an incomplete care plan for 1 child

There is current log of minor incidents, illnesses and unexpected events, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H. [CCLR Sec. 56(1)(f)]

Observation. Licensing Officer observed that the facility did not maintain a log for minor incidents, illnesses, and unexpected events. No documentation system was available to record these occurrences.

A record for each child containing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(c)]; A record for each child containing a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(i)]; A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

Observation. The following was observed: -a record for each child containing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is not kept for 8 children -photograph or digital image of the child is not kept for 8 children -immunization status is not kept for 8 children

The licensee has written, parental consent to release a child to someone other than the parent. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(b)]

Observation. Licensing Officer observed one record in which the parent(s) have listed themselves as the emergency contact.

Evidence of compliance with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs has not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(f)]; Character references have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec.19(1)(b)]; Records of staff's work histories have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(c)]

Observation. Licensing Officer observed the following: -immunization status has not been obtained for 2 staff -character references have not been obtained for 1 staff -records of staff's work histories has not been obtained for 1 staff

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. As per discussion, the bathroom appears to need daily cleaning and ongoing maintenance as it is an older space, and is showing signs of wear and tear.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

Observation. There is a child with a requirement for a care plan due to allergies. LO will send a Care Plan form to licensee.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. LO observed that children's files are incomplete with some missing immunization status, and emergency contact that is not in addition to parents. While licensee stated that she is continuing to work on children's files and a process, she is aware that there may be some gaps.

Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

Observation. While program has only been operating for a short period of time, no fire drills have been conducted with children in care. Each month staff and children must practice a fire drill and once a year conduct an emergency plan.
