The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. The facility walls in the main play area, the additional classroom and the kitchen appear to be in poor repair. The paint on the walls is chipped and exposing the drywall. In the nap room, Licensing Officer observed the window sill was visibly dirty and stained. The manager cleaned the window sill during the inspection. In the children's washroom, Licensing Officer observed the following: -garbage can is missing the foot pedal leaving the metal hardware exposed which poses a risk of harm to children in care -diaper change mat appears to be stained, soiled and dirty. The diaper change mat is no longer easy to clean. -large mirror appears to be dirty and soiled with water stains. The manager cleaned the mirror during the inspection.

Employees have access to reliable communications equipment in an emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(4)]
Observation. Licensing observed while conducting the inspection the WiFi was not working, which prevented parents communicating with staff and the staff communicating with parents. The educator confirmed they have a cell phone for parents/emergency personal to call in on when the WiFi is down. The Educator said that parents only use the daycare app to communicate with the centre and the parents do not know the facility phone number in case of an emergency.

Observation. Originally found out of compliance on March 4, 2025. Licensing observed that a bar had been installed on either side of the stairs to assist children heading outside to play. From the bar to the concrete landing for the stairs was not filled in. The Educator reported that the older children who can reach the rod will hang off the bar and try to swing, which is concerning and could present as a serious injury if the child was to fall.

Observation. Licensing observed the attendance records for the past few months and found that the program is out of ratio in the morning before the second person arrived, which places the children at risk of injury.

Observation. Licensing observed children coming down the stairs, getting ready for outside play and then heading out onto the landing. It was noted that there is nothing for a child to hold onto when stepping into the yard from the landing at front of the door. Licensing is concerned of a serious injury from no railing or item to hold when the child is trying to independently step down on to the concrete path.

Observation. Licensing observed the lever door mechanism for the playground gate entering the yard is not safe. While inspecting the yard a child opened the gate and went outside the yard, presenting a risk of injury and possible missing and wandering. The fence on the east side has come away from the frame and could cause a serious injury
