    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: *In the Infants room: -fine pain dust accumulated on the dry wall patch in the reading corner area. Discussion took place regarding covering or repairing this area on the wall to mitigate the children's potential exposure to paint dust/lead. -Several foam mats showing signs of wear, exposing the inner materials and foam.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Big nap room in the infants room: *loose electrical cords behind the rocking chair. *one electrical cord being plugged into the wall adjacent to a child's crib. Discussion took place regarding securing this electrical cord to mitigate any risks of entanglement. -Small nap room in the infants room. *several electrical cords accessible to children. - discussion took place regarding securing the electrical cords to mitigate any tripping hazard.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the Toddler Program: Some of the wood logs in the Toddler playground are starting to rot. Licensing observed some of the wooden planks in the outdoor play space have become warped and loose. Some of the screws holding the planks down have become raised. This item is not in good repair. Manager informed Licensing they will be putting in a work order for this item and repairs will be in progress shortly.

    Observation. Licensing observed 19 children and 6 staff on the toddler playground. This exceeds the maximum group size of 12 children for a group child care under 36 months. Discussed with the staff that the children can rotate through the space as long as there are no more than 12 children at a time.

    Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]

    Observation. During the inspection in the Toddler Room CCFL observed the staff use physical redirection several times with more than one child as follows: * A staff held a child with thumb and fingers enclosed around the child's wrist and "pulled" a child to the standing position * A staff at circle time put their hands on achild's arms and "pulled" the child back to where they wanted the child to sit * A staff placed their hands on a child's chest from behind to move the child away from the door, this was also used again to move a child away from the sink on numerous occasions When the children were sitting at the table the staff did not ask the children if they wanted their chair to be closer to the table. The staff just pushed the children closer to the table either by pulling the chair or pushing the chair close to the table.

We were here for many years and our experience was very positive. The teachers clearly had good ECE training, they were caring and made the place fun for little ones. We still look at old photos from time to time and think about the lovely memories of the kids and teachers there.
