- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical
A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].
Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Licensee is currently not following a two-step cleaning and sanitizing system. While a sanitizing spray is available and in use, there is no soap/detergent solution available to clean surfaces prior to sanitizing. Licensing will provide a resource. - The door leading to the children's washroom is loose on the hinges and wobbling, creating a potential risk of the door falling off. - An electrical outlet is missing a cover.
- PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical
Not enclosed.; Not in good repair.; Not safely constructed.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: - The wooden gate leading into the playground has a latch that is no longer sturdy or in alignment, preventing it from self-latching. The wooden gate is also dragging on the ground and, unless physically lifted into position, does not close fully. As a result, the playground is currently not fully enclosed. - The licensee shared that the neighbouring house is undergoing renovations, which has caused damage to the shared fence enclosing the outdoor play space. An area of the cement wall affected by these renovations now has missing blocks, resulting in the wall no longer meeting height requirements. - Mesh fencing currently in place to mitigate the climbing hazard posed by the cement wall is falling in some areas, exposing sections of the wall that may be climbable.
- STAFFING / Character and skill requirementsNon-critical
Employees employed as early childhood educators or assistants hold the appropriate certificates issued under Division 2, which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [Employee Qualifications]. [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]
Observation. The Licensee did not provide documentation to confirm verification of early childhood educator and assistant certificates.
