  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed a metal support structure located by the ground level, with sharp corners exposed this was in direct access to children, without any protective soft covering in place.

  Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]

  Observation. Licensing observed a shelving unit in the JK2 River room that was mostly empty, containing only a few pieces of paper and pencils. Both the JK2 River and JK2 Creek programs lack sufficient materials to provide comprehensive activities that support children’s development, as well as enough materials for sharing among the children in each class.

  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the JK2 Creek program has documentation of its monthly fire drills. Licensing was unable to observe any documentation of monthly fire drills for the JK2 River program. As a reminder, emergency drills must be conducted and documented annually, ensure an emergency drill is completed and recorded by the end of the year.
