  • CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION / Harmful actions not permittedNon-critical

No child is subjected to harmful actions as defined in Section 52. [CCLR Sec 52(1)(a)-(f)]

Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed one of the Educators on numerous occasions physically move the children without advanced notice or talking to the child. For example: * During yoga the educator physically moved the children to where they wanted the children to sit on the floor by placing their hands under the children's arms and pulling them * During yoga and dance when the children were standing up the educator physically moved the children to where they wanted the children to stand by placing their hands under the children's arms and pulling them * During yoga the children were laying down, "meditating" some on their backs and some on their stomachs the Educator physically turned the children over so they were laying how the Educator wanted them to lay * During the yoga and dance activity the Educator would physically move a child out of the activity to the side and speak to them about their behavior - this was done with what appeared to be a curt tone When asking the children to do something this Educator would command the children with a tone that appeared very curt Also Licensing observed that the children were told to sit "criss cross apple sauce " - The expectation that children are required to sit stationary for a period of time is not respectful of the range of children's abilities. Not all children are physically able to sit "criss cross apple sauce".
