  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. During today's visit, hot water was not available in the middle wash basin in the children's bathroom. This observation was shared with the program manager.

  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: *educators follow 2 step method for cleaning and disinfecting. *liquid hand soap and single use towels available at sinks. *several loose, unsecured blind cords - this could pose as a risk of entanglement. *cleaning supplies/ chemicals being stored underneath the sink base cabinet while the child safety restrictor observed to be disengaged - this could pose as a safety hazard. *the wooden baseboards being placed under the climbing structure in the playground showing progressive signs of decay and rot. Additionally, Licensing observed a hole in the base part of this wooden structure. Currently, a small wooden table is being placed on top to prevent any potential risks of entrapment or tripping. It also appears that the foundation being placed underneath the base of the structure is insufficient. The manager informed that contractors are scheduled to visit the program to address this issue. Further discussed about finding a permanent solution to repair this play structure. *wooden fencing encompassing the bike path appears wobbly. *water flow station/ water table being placed adjacent to the fencing. Discussion took place regarding the placement of this water station and how this may allow children to climb over the fence. The manager informed this water station will be resituated away from the fencing.

  All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: * a knob on one of the closet doors was broken * some of the wooden planks on the outdoor play structure are starting to rot and large gaps are forming that can be a tripping hazard or entrapment hazard.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the cupboard under the sink in the kitchen contained cleaning supplies There was no lock on the cupboard or any safety barrier of any kind to prevent the children from accessing the kitchen.
