  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. Discussed emergency drills. Manager and staff member noted the school age care practices drills during the spring /summer/ winter break with the rest of the facility's licensed programs. Unfortunately this means, the fire drills are not being done with the frequency required as per the regulation, i.e., once a month. Discussed options for ensuring compliance now and in the future including holding fire drills on PD days so school age can participate or on their own if need be in afternoon. Manager committed to follow up and monitoring for ongoing compliance.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that one child required an epi-pen, however this child did not have a care plan. Licensing recommends keeping a copy of the care plan with the epi-pen.

  Observation. Licensing had a discussion with the school age staff in regards to inspecting away play spaces and keeping a maintenance log.
