Observation. License was not posted in the facility. Staff inform that the license was relocated to another facility for the summer months and likely not returned. Current Manager on the license has gone on medical leave, and there is an acting Manager on site. An application for license amendment will be submitted once the new Manager is confirmed.

Observation. *The wheels on the rolling shelves were not secured creating the possibility of a toe or finger injury. *A low kitchen cupboard was unsecured allowing children access to cleaning chemicals.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. *A soft blue couch in the main play area has several dark stains covering the seat. This item is no longer clean or hygienic.

Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]
Observation. *CCFL observed the inside play space to be set up with only tables and stacks of chairs. The space is cold and unwelcoming and children's cubbies are identified with peeling painter's tape. There was a small play kitchen with no play materials, a fooseball table and 3 locked double shelves in the main play room. CCFL did not see any evidence of art or other activities being available to children other than outdoor free play.

Observation. *The current posted evacuation plan is in the form of a monochrome site plan that is quite small and difficult to read.

Staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and the emergency plan, including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(a)]
Observation. *Licensing inquired as to how Educators will access the UBC emergency preparedness supplies in the event of a true emergency such as an earthquake. The Educator was able to tell Licensing where the supplies were, but did not know how to gain access to the storage container.
