    Observation. Licensing and Manager could not locate the certificate verifications that were completed. A reminder that all new certificates would be required to complete the same verification. A recommendation to place the current verifications attached to the posted certificates to ensure completion.

    Observation. *An epi-pen required to treat anaphylactic reaction to allergy was expired. The manager reports they are following up on this item.

    Observation. *The toilet brush was accessible to children in the children's washroom. This may expose children to germs or harsh chemical residue left on the brush. *A large backpack located on a shelf directly above the toilet had straps hanging down that could be easily reached by a child using the facilities. This is a possible tipping hazard. *A mud kitchen located in the fenced outdoor play area was pushed up against the fence in such a way that it could be used as a means for a child to climb over the fence.

    Observation. *A volunteer at the facility has a criminal record check on file that has been conducted through the RCMP however legislation deems it must be obtained through the BC Criminal Records Registry. (CCFL to provide a resource)

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. *An electric baseboard heater in the main activity room is broken on one end revealing sharp metal edges and access to the interior workings. *The electrical outlets are old-style and do not have child-proof plug protectors installed. This poses a risk of electric shock. *The blind chains were observed to be loose and not secured to the wall. *Cords from a CD player and a fan were observed to be loose and unsecured. This poses a risk of entanglement.

    Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

    Observation. *The all gender washroom just off the cubby room was observed to be open giving children access to chemicals in the unlocked lower cabinet. CCFL observed house paint, furniture polish and CLR readily available at children's reach. *CCFL noted oven cleaner and cement sealant stored in the unsecured lower kitchen cabinets under the sink.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. *a pop-up tent in the outdoor fenced play area has collapsed creating a safety hazard. *CCFL observed rusty, sharp wire garden bedding border fences stacked up against the outside of the fenced play yard.
